How I Hate Goodbyes

How do I bid you farewell, love?
Shall I peck you on your cheek
Like often we do with a child? Or
Caress it maybe? Shake hands?
Like in business when a deed is done
Shall I hug you like there’s no tomorrow?
Or just slip out of the crowded room
           (unnoticed)
And perhaps, with so many around,
You will forget there ever was a me
